If you're anything like me and adore Pinterest, you'll know it's a treasure trove for foodies, especially when it comes to drool-worthy recipes you can't resist trying. Personally, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to barbecues. Recently, we received a portable BBQ to test out, and naturally, I needed some guidance on what to cook. Pinterest, being my go-to source for inspiration, seemed like the perfect place to start.
I have a dedicated board for barbecue ideas, where you’ll find everything you need for the ultimate BBQ experience – from mouthwatering recipes and drink pairings to decor tips, playlists, and even outfit suggestions. One of my favorite finds on this board is a recipe for grilled bananas for dessert. It’s an idea I stumbled upon on What’s Gabby Cooking, and I was immediately drawn to its simplicity and novelty.
Over the weekend, we decided to give it a shot. The preparation was incredibly straightforward and would be ideal for a camping trip. For our version, we simply grilled whole bananas directly on the BBQ without wrapping them in foil (though you could do that if you prefer). After grilling, we topped them with melted chocolate, fudge sauce, and plenty of sprinkles. A few scoops of ice cream completed the dish, making it feel like a decadent treat. For a slightly healthier option, we also served it with Greek yogurt, which turned out to be equally delicious.
To our delight, the kids absolutely loved it! It’s safe to say this will become a regular dessert at our house. If you'd like to check out my full Pinterest board for more BBQ inspiration, you can follow it here.
Interestingly, this month I hit a milestone on Pinterest by reaching 10,000 followers! Thank you to everyone who has joined me on this creative journey. To explore all my boards, head over to my profile here.
In addition to the grilled bananas, I’ve been experimenting with other BBQ dishes. From smoky veggie skewers to marinated chicken wings, there’s so much potential for flavor and creativity. I’m excited to continue sharing more ideas and discoveries with my growing community. Let me know if you’ve tried anything similar or if you have any BBQ hacks you’d like to share!
