How to print fantastic glass artwork in 3D at thousands of degrees?

Glass is formed by melting together silica and other chemicals (the main raw materials are: soda ash, limestone, quartz). The earliest glass makers in the world were ancient Egyptians. The emergence and use of glass has a history of more than 4,000 years in human life. From the ruins of Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt 4000 years ago, there were small glass beads unearthed.

Traditional glass products require many complicated processes such as heating, molding, blowing, coloring, and cooling. However, the media team in the media lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently teamed up with the glass lab to develop 3D. The technology of three-dimensional printing glass transforms the 3D printer into a kiln-like container, which can be directly heated, shaped and cooled in the 3D printer. So is the art world of glass creation a step closer to you?

Glass 3D Printing (G3DP) technology is based on the concept of a two-layer heating furnace. The upper layer of the 3D printer is responsible for heating the glass, melting the glass to a liquid state at 1037 degrees Celsius, and then passing the same high temperature resistant tannic acid. The aluminum zirconia ceramic nozzle is sprayed out, and the liquid glass is layered into a desired pattern, and the lower layer is responsible for slowly cooling and cooling.
