Teabag packaging technology

1, tea packaging technical requirements

Tea contains various components such as ascorbic acid, tea tannin, tea essence, aromatic oil, protein, catechins, lipids, vitamins, pigments, pectin, enzymes, and minerals. These ingredients are highly susceptible to deterioration due to moisture, oxygen, temperature, light and environmental odors. Therefore, when packaging tea leaves, the above factors should be reduced or prevented. The specific requirements are as follows.

1.1 moistureproof

The moisture in tea leaves is the medium for tea biochemical changes, and low moisture content is beneficial to the preservation of tea quality. The moisture content in the tea should not exceed 5%, and 3% is the best for long-term preservation. Otherwise, the ascorbic acid in the tea will be easily decomposed, and the color, fragrance and taste of the tea will change, especially at higher temperatures. Speed will increase. Therefore, moisture-proof performance can be selected when packaging. For example, aluminum foil or aluminum foil vapor-deposited film is used as moisture-proof packaging material for packaging materials.

1.2 oxidation prevention

Excessive oxygen content in the package can lead to oxidative deterioration of certain components in the tea. For example, ascorbic acid is easily oxidized into deoxy ascorbic acid, and further reacts with amino acids to cause a pigment reaction, which deteriorates the taste of the tea. Therefore, the content of oxygen in tea packaging must be effectively controlled below 1%. In packaging technology, inflated packaging or vacuum packaging can be used to reduce the presence of oxygen. Vacuum packaging technology is to put the tea into a soft airtight film packaging bag, remove the bag air, resulting in a certain degree of vacuum, and then seal the sealing method; inflatable packaging technology is in the air At the same time filled with nitrogen and other inert gases, the purpose is to protect the color, aroma, taste of tea leaves unchanged, maintain its original quality.

1.3 anti-high temperature

Temperature is an important factor affecting the quality of tea. The difference in temperature is 10°C and the rate of chemical reaction varies by 3 to 5 times. Tea at high temperatures will exacerbate the oxidation of contained substances, leading to the rapid reduction of effective substances such as polyphenols and accelerating quality deterioration. According to the implementation, the storage temperature of tea is best below 5°C. At 10-15 °C, the color of the tea is reduced slowly, and the color effect can be maintained well. When the temperature exceeds 25 °C, the color of the tea will change rapidly. Therefore, tea leaves are suitable for preservation at low temperatures.

1.4 shading

Light can promote the oxidation of chlorophyll and lipids in tea leaves, increase odor substances such as valeraldehyde and propionaldehyde in tea, and accelerate the aging of tea. Therefore, when packaging tea leaves, it must be shaded to prevent chlorophyll, lipids, etc. Photocatalytic reactions occur with other components. In addition, ultraviolet light is also an important factor causing the deterioration of tea. Solve this type of problem can use shading packaging technology.

1.5 choke

The flavor of tea leaves is easily lost, and it is easily affected by the odor of the outside world. In particular, the residual solvent of the composite film and the odor from the electric ironing process and the heat sealing process all affect the flavor of the tea and affect the flavor of the tea. Therefore, when packaging tea leaves, it is necessary to avoid escaping from the package and absorbing odors from the outside. Tea packaging material must have a certain barrier gas properties.

2, tea packaging methods

As a special category of goods, due to the constraints of their own and objective conditions, the packaging of tea is different from other general goods. At present, the commonly used tea packaging methods mainly include the following.

2.1 Metal can packaging

The cans of metal cans are excellent in anti-breakage, moisture-proof and sealing performance, and are ideal packaging for tea. The metal cans are generally made of tin-plated steel sheets. The cans are square and cylindrical, and they are covered with single-layer lids and double-layer lids. From the seal up, there are two kinds of general cans and sealed cans. In the packaging technology, the general cans can be packaged with a deoxidizer to remove oxygen from the package. Sealed cans are mostly inflated and vacuum packed. Metal cans are more protective against tea than composite films, and they are aesthetically pleasing and noble. Their disadvantages are high packaging costs, high weight ratios between packages and goods, and increased transportation costs. Well-designed metal cans are suitable for high-grade tea packaging.

2.2 carton packaging

The carton is formed by printing on white paper, grey paper, etc. The carton package is easy to damage and has excellent light-shielding performance. In order to solve the volatilization of the carton packaging tea aroma and protection from the external odor, generally use polyethylene plastic bags to package tea and then into the carton. The disadvantage of carton packaging is that it is prone to dampness. In recent years, a paper-plastic composite packaging box has emerged, which overcomes the problem of dampness of the carton. This kind of paperboard is made of packaging materials with a plastic film layer on the inner layer or coated with a moisture-proof coating. The packaging box not only has the function of composite film bag packaging, but also has the protective and rigid properties of the carton packaging. If a small bag is made of plastic bags inside, the protective effect is better.

2.3 Plastic Forming Container Packaging

Polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and other plastic molded containers have the characteristics of generous, beautiful appearance and good packaging display effect, but their sealing performance is poor, and they are mostly used as outer packaging in tea packaging, and the composite film plastic bags are used in the packaging. Package.

2.4 composite film bag packaging

Plastic composite film has many advantages such as light weight, unbreakable, good heat sealability, and suitable price, and is widely used in packaging. There are many kinds of composite films used for tea packaging, such as moisture-proof cellophane/polyethylene/paper/aluminum foil/polyethylene, biaxially oriented polypropylene/aluminum foil/polyethylene, polyethylene/polyvinylidene chloride/polyethylene, etc. The composite film has excellent gas barrier properties, moisture resistance, fragrance protection, and odor prevention. Since most plastic films have a light transmittance of 80% to 90%, in order to reduce the transmittance, ultraviolet light can be added to the packaging material, or light transmittance can be reduced by printing and coloring. In addition, a composite material based on aluminum foil or vacuum aluminized film may be used for shading packaging. Composite film bags are available in a variety of formats, including three-side seals, stand-up pouches, and folds. Because the composite film bag has a good printing property, its use as a sales packaging design has a unique effect on attracting customers and promoting tea sales.

2.5 Paper Bag Packaging

Also known as teabag, this is a kind of bag that uses thin filter paper as the material for the village. When used together, it is put into the tea set together with the paper bag. The purpose of packaging with a filter paper bag is mainly to increase the leaching rate, and also to make full use of the tea plant tea. Because the teabags have the advantages of rapid brewing, cleanliness, and standard usage, they can be mixed with drinks, have convenient slag discharge, and are easy to carry. They are suitable for the fast-paced life of modern people and are very popular in the international market. Early bags of teabags generally have a bag line to meet the convenience of multiple soaking. Due to the consideration of environmental protection, it is now popular to use tea bags without a bag line.
