"Net Sales First" bird's nest shop suspected of counterfeiting and affixing traceable source code posing as original packaging import

The department discovered that the store had illegally altered the original source codes of imported bird's nests, misleading consumers about the product's origin. Ms. Chen, a customer, purchased 20 bird's nests from the Lynx Mall's "Yangege" flagship store, each weighing 10 grams and priced at 272 yuan. After doubting the quality of the batch, she sent the products to the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine for testing. The results revealed a significant discrepancy between the inspection findings and the information provided on the CAIQ traceability label, leaving her shocked. The reporter visited the Yangege flagship store's website on Tmall and found that, according to data from December 2013 to April 2015, the store ranked first in sales within the bird's nest category. Following the report, the Zhejiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau conducted an investigation into six companies that had filed for imported bird's nest products in the region. They verified the flow of these products and promptly informed the Hangzhou Market Supervision Administration. Both departments then carried out joint investigations. Preliminary findings indicated that the Tmall seller (Yangege) had removed the original source codes from the bird's nests and re-applied their own labels onto the packaging, misleading customers. The Binjiang Branch of the Hangzhou Market Supervision Administration also conducted forensic sampling and inspections of the products sold under the Yangege brand. It has since been reported that the Tmall Yangege flagship store has removed the disputed bird's nest items from its inventory. This incident has raised concerns about the transparency and authenticity of imported products sold online, highlighting the need for stricter oversight and consumer awareness in the e-commerce sector.
