This new type of rapeseed is a cabbage (double low) quality white flower rape. It is understood that the breeding of Brassica napus with double low white flowers is the first time in China. It is used in modern biotechnology breeding methods, using microspore culture technology, quickly obtained in the less than 5 years, a stable double-low rapeseed new lines, faster than conventional breeding methods at least 4- 5 years. This type of white rapeseed plant has relatively round base leaves, blue-green leaves and erect seedlings; compact plant type, plant height 153.6-171.8CM; large petals and pure white flowers. Its breeding has marked an important step forward in the research of rapeseed biotechnology breeding in China.
Li Genze and Wang Jingqiao, research associates of the Institute of Biotechnology of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, told the reporter that the new variety of rapeseed that is newly bred has unique advantages of high quality, high yield, and high oil content. At present, the Institute has bred three new varieties (lines) of "Yinhua No.1", "Yinhua No.2" and "Yinhua No.3" that can be applied to Datian production, and they are in Shanglin Township, Jinning County, Kunming City. A field trial of Yinhua No. 1 was conducted. During the flowering period, the yellow and white rapeseed field became a beautiful local landscape.
According to reports, the research institute of the Institute has recently conducted breeding and research on purple and safflower varieties, and it is expected that new varieties of double-low rapeseed will continue to emerge in 3-5 years. These colourful canola flowers developed by modern science and technology will create a strange ecological new landscape for the country's vast countryside.
