Wuda Develops Edible Inner Packaging Film

After researchers at Wuhan University developed the konjac packaging film in 2000, this year, the school will extend the raw material of this biodegradable film to the corn and the Boeding Department, thus adding new products to the starch series packaging film.

According to Professor Zheng Zhengkai, head of the project at Wuhan University, a new type of inner packaging film containing corn and equine materials as the main raw material, its tensile strength, flexibility, transparency and other characteristics can be compared with those of plastic films, and its cost and plastic film. It is flat, edible, and biodegradable. It has remarkable efficacy in reducing `white pollution` and can be applied to food packaging.
