A magnetic support plate is provided for a clad steel and steel backed polymeric press/rough and convex press mold, wherein the non-ferrous, rectangular support formed by the plate has a structure for complementary receipt of the print mold assembly Mold mounting surface. The plate has a series of elongated recesses or cavities in one surface, and each cavity is provided with two rectangular magnets spaced apart from one another. Two magnets in each cavity are set so that the magnetic north and south poles are opposite to each other. A ferromagnetic member in the form of a steel plate or steel bar is disposed in each cavity and is bridge-connected with a magnet in each cavity. Magnets are used for magnetic attraction and retain the clad steel or steel backing polymeric press/coarse and convex press molds on the surface of the plate. The ferromagnetic member significantly increases the magnetic attraction of the magnet.
