Japan Develops New Technology for Sliced Fruit and Vegetable Packaging

Japan has developed a new preservation packaging technology that can maintain the characteristics of sliced fruits for a longer period of time. The technology first cuts the sliced apple and potatoes in a solution containing natural ingredients such as antioxidants VC and VE to inhibit their fermentation and discoloration, and then packs them into a polyethylene bag together with the newly developed carbon dioxide adsorbent for vacuum packaging. After being packaged, it will be stored in a cold store. Sliced apples are generally kept for more than 20 days. Sliced potatoes can be preserved for more than 1 month. The technology is also suitable for fresh vegetable packaging such as leeks and konjac. (Finish)
