Full-Automatic Strain Tester
Function and Role Introduction
Introduction
The Mechanics Laboratory is a vital part of any engineering college, offering students hands-on experience in understanding material properties through experiments. These practical sessions help deepen their knowledge of theoretical mechanics, material mechanics, mechanical components, and manufacturing courses. With a large number of students and frequent lab sessions, mechanical experiments are conducted almost daily. Common experimental projects include comparing the mechanical properties of materials, torsion tests, measuring normal stress in beams, and analyzing stress under combined loading conditions in thin-walled tubes.
To support these experiments, the AY-10 automatic strain gauge has been developed as an essential tool for electrical measurement in stress analysis. Drawing from years of teaching experience in mechanics labs, research, and field applications, the R&D team created this advanced instrument tailored for modern educational, research, and industrial needs. The AY-10 combines high precision with user-friendly features, making it ideal for both academic and professional use.
Equipped with a DC bridge, a low-drift 24-bit dedicated A/D converter, 10-channel automatic switching, and a touch screen interface, the AY-10 offers accurate and stable measurements. Its one-button zero adjustment ensures quick setup, while its design eliminates mechanical contacts, reducing maintenance requirements. It also supports MODBUS communication for seamless integration with host computers, providing a visual configuration interface for enhanced usability.
The AY-10 strain gauge is widely used in various industries, including aerospace, machinery manufacturing, civil engineering, hydropower, railway systems, automotive structures, mining equipment, ships, and bridges. Its versatility makes it a reliable choice for strain testing across multiple sectors.

Basic Working Principle:
The AY-10 consists of a bridge conversion circuit, a low-drift, high-precision 24-bit A/D sampling circuit, an embedded microprocessor motherboard, a touch screen for human-machine interaction, and optionally a PC. In typical mechanical bolt group strain tests, multiple working pieces are involved. The device uses a triode as a multi-channel switch and the CD4067 analog switch to manage the bridge signal transmission, ensuring no overlap between different bridges. To maintain consistency in data, the same bridge is used, connecting a temperature compensation sheet and multiple working pieces automatically through an all-electronic switch. This allows for efficient and accurate strain measurement. The AY-10’s low internal resistance and electronic switch design ensure precise and reliable performance.
