140 capsules made up for the Japanese dwelling life 40 years ago

The Bank of China Capsule Building (also known as the Bank of China Capsule Tower) is a special-shaped residential and office building designed by Kurokawa Kisho and located in Shinbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The building began construction in 1970 and was completed in 1972. It is a representative work of the “metabolic movement” of the Japanese architectural community. The BOC Capsule Tower consists of two interconnected buildings containing a total of 140 precast building modules, each of which is designed to be independently replaceable. After the building was completed, its developer was bankrupt and acquired by the US hedge fund. The building has been in disrepair for a long time in recent years. In 2007, the fund company announced that the building was demolished and rebuilt.
