The aviation industry is much more demanding than the automotive industry for polyurethanes. There aren't many other bubble furniture that can do so much global travel compared to the seats of large airliners. An airline seat is used on average for approximately 18 hours per day in 3 to 5 years. This figure is equivalent to a distance of approximately 500,000 kilometers by car. The single car seat, on the average, contains about 9 kilograms of soft polyurethane foam per car. The demand for polyurethanes in the number and longevity of passenger aircraft is certainly much higher than that of automobiles. Therefore, the aviation industry will be one of the directions for polyurethane development in the future.
