According to the report of the Rubber Network, scientists at the Japanese Institute of Physical and Chemical Research have successfully synthesized a rubber raw material polybutadiene using a rare earth metal complex as a catalyst.
According to "Nikk-Korea Industry News", the new catalyst is a rare earth metallocene complex formed by the combination of rare earth metal niobium and methane. Scientists used this new catalyst at 50 degrees Celsius to polymerize butadiene, resulting in polybutadiene. Scientists also discovered in the experiment that polybutadiene can be synthesized using a metallocene metallocene compound and methylaluminum as a main catalyst under low temperature conditions of minus 20 degrees Celsius. The rubber raw material synthesized using the new catalyst has the advantages of high elasticity and wear resistance, and can be used to manufacture energy-saving automobile tires and other products.
