Founded in 1958, Zhejiang Marine Aquaculture Research Institute is specialized in the research of culture biology, artificial breeding, genetic breeding and culture techniques of marine fish, shrimp, shellfish and algae. Comprehensive provincial research institutions for monitoring, as well as promotion, consultation, training and other social welfare activities of related technologies, are affiliated to the Zhejiang Ocean and Fisheries Bureau.
The Institute has a marine shellfish research laboratory, aquaculture seedling research laboratory, shallow sea aquaculture research laboratory, Qingjiang test base, Dongtou test base, Yongxing test base, administrative office, and finance department. There are 50 employees, including 32 professional and technical personnel, 2 senior titles, 9 deputy senior titles and 21 intermediate titles. Two American experts and one Thai expert were employed as visiting researchers. The magazine "Zhejiang Marine Aquaculture" has been established, and has established close exchanges and cooperation with relevant institutions in more than 20 countries and regions.
Since its establishment more than 40 years ago, the Institute has undertaken nearly 100 scientific research projects, and has achieved more than 70 scientific research achievements, generating billions of social and economic benefits. It has been repeatedly rewarded by relevant provincial and state departments to promote marine aquatic products in Zhejiang Province. The aquaculture industry and the sustainable development of the Zhejiang fisheries economy have contributed. The research in the fields of artificial breeding and seed culture techniques for shellfish cultured in the beach is leading domestically and internationally. At present, he has undertaken many major research projects such as the national “863†and provincial-level major bidding science and technology plans.
