21st Century Packaging Engineering Education (I)

I. Review Since we went to the United States to inspect packaging education in the United States in 1985, we have returned the complete set of teaching plans and teaching materials from the School of Packaging at Michigan State University back to our original packaging machinery professional teaching program. The "Knowledge Model" of the undergraduate major in packaging engineering has passed 15 years. The national textbooks for the first set of packaging projects suitable for China's national conditions were introduced to the country in the mid-1980s. With the development of the market economy, more than 20 universities in China have opened packaging or related courses. So far, it is estimated that there are thousands of junior college students across the country who have specialized in packaging engineering and have made contributions to the development of China's packaging industry.
In these years of educational practice, some people raised doubts about this profession. What do you say about packaging engineering? It's not like a profession. Whatever you learn and what you don't have is fine. Does society need such a "generalist"? Some schools were suspended for various subjective and objective reasons. Some schools adjusted their professional orientation to their original packaging machinery. It is really the cross-border flow of the vast sea, and the big wave breaks through the sand. Our packaging engineering profession is so ups and downs that it has survived and is surviving, and is looking forward to exploring the future.
Second, the characteristics of packaging engineering professionals in the face of what the 21st century is what kind of, and now there are different opinions. According to the current development trend of the society, it can be roughly summarized as the following:
1. Economic globalization is irresistible, and the flow of people, logistics, information flow, and capital flow are convenient and quick.
2. High-tech, represented by information, biology, materials, and energy, is developing with each passing day.
3. The explosion of the knowledge economy has begun to take shape. The development of the network economy is profoundly changing the pattern of human life.
4. The concept of rationalization such as sustainable development, cooperation and dialogue, and people-oriented concept has become more and more popular.
5. People have a new quest for spiritual civilization and human development.
As a result, social development in the future will show a trend of speed, integration, rationalization, and diversification. Our higher engineering education must adapt to these changes and break through the tendencies and limitations of traditional education.
Third, the transformation of packaging engineering education for the 21st century is necessary to rethink, in the concept must be completely changed. 2,500 years ago, the Chinese educator Confucius advocated "teaching without class" and "teaching according to aptitude" in education. Western classical education rationalism believes that education is to promote human reason.
The education we are currently implementing is basically a science education and technology education thought from the former Soviet Union and the United States. In order to meet the needs of the industrial society, education is basically seen as investment in human resources, and it is a backup talent for the development of science and technology and the production of large industries. The pursuit of technical and economical practical goals of education ignores the change of the human mind and the cultivation of personality; emphasis on practical knowledge and skills learning, ignoring the realization of human spirit and value; re-inheriting, while ignoring innovation. Therefore, modern education must be a complete education, that is, education must not only prepare for the actual material life of the educated in the future, but also conduct spiritual cultivation to achieve the sublimation of personality. This is reflected in the three aspects that should be concerned with talent cultivation: K (Kn ow led ge) knowledge, A (Ability) ability, Q (Quality) quality, to handle learning knowledge (toknow), learn to do (todo) and learn to be a person ( Tobe) relationship.
