In addition to being eco-friendly, PET pre-coated films offer several advantages over BOPP pre-coated films. They have significantly higher mechanical strength, with tensile strength ranging from 5 to 10 times that of BOPP films. PET material is known for its excellent heat resistance, with a melting point of 260°C and a softening point between 230–240°C. It is resistant to oils, chemicals, and organic solvents, although it may degrade when exposed to strong alkalis.
Additionally, PET offers superior gas and odor barrier properties, along with high transparency—light transmittance exceeding 90%—and good gloss, making it ideal for high-quality printing. However, the slitting process for PET pre-coated films typically requires the use of a hot knife, which can be challenging without the right equipment.
