Why does the electronic balance need to be calibrated before it can be used normally

When the electronic balance is turned on, the zero point is displayed. It does not mean that the accuracy of the data measured by the balance meets the test standard, but only that the stability of the zero position of the balance is qualified. To measure the eligibility of a balance, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the conformity of other technical indicators. Due to long storage time, location movement, environmental changes or in order to obtain accurate measurements, the balance should generally be calibrated before use.

We often say that the units of gram (g), kilogram (kg), ton (t), ounce (oz) are mass units. The principle of electronic scales and electronic balances actually weighs out, G = mg, G Is the weight, m is the mass, and g is the acceleration of gravity.

The acceleration of gravity g changes with latitude and altitude, so if the electronic balance or analytical balance is larger than the latitude, the value will be different. This requires calibration to eliminate the effect of gravity acceleration g on mass m.

In addition, the outside temperature in different seasons will also cause deviations in the readings of electronic balances and electronic scales.

Calibration can eliminate these deviations to the greatest extent.

Calibration is divided into internal calibration (internal calibration) and external calibration (external calibration).

External calibration refers to using a standard instrument (weight) external to the balance to calibrate the balance. Generally, full-scale (or close to full-scale) and half-scale weights are used.

Internal calibration means that a calibration weight is installed inside the balance. Internal calibration is divided into fully automatic and manual calibration. Automatically calibrated balances generally only need to press a button to automatically complete the calibration steps. The manual internal calibration is not much different from the external calibration, but due to the built-in weights, it is possible to avoid the contamination and incorrect use of the weights.

The balance usually warms up for more than half an hour before recalibration works best.
