Japan Bell spinning company developed a super absorbent fiber for food packaging, trade name "BELUANS", has been officially used as food packaging materials, and made the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognized.
The non-woven sheet made of such highly water-absorbing and highly hygroscopic fiber absorbs 50 ml of water per gram, which is about 5 times higher than the original pulp sheet, and can withstand 150 DEG C even when the high pressure is used. It can also maintain its moisture.
According to experiments, using the fiber as a meat packaging material has good safety performance and can absorb blood and moisture of meat to maintain freshness.
