We spend a third of our time sleeping, so investing in quality bedding mattresses is essential. If your sleep is not as good as it used to be, or if you are feeling awake when you wake up, it may be time to change the mattress. However, actually choosing one of many designs is another matter. Check out the relevant suggestions before you hurry to buy.
Do you need to replace your mattress?
It is common to replace the mattress every 7 to 8 years. Even if it doesn't show many signs of wear and tear, it may not give you the support and comfort you need, so you have a good night's sleep, and the drooping area in the middle of the bed is definitely a sign of a new mattress. Other indicators include a lump from the mattress at night and any snoring.
Know your mattress type
There are four main types of mattresses on the market, but there are other products, such as gel mattresses. Learn before you start shopping.
- The open spring mattress is supported by a spring made of long steel wire. This is the most common type of mattress and is usually the most affordable option, but it does not always provide the best support for everyday use.
- The pocket spring mattress has a spring that is separately inserted into the pocket and can be more supported. The choice of springs in these springs and open spring designs - whether wool, synthetic or other materials - can have an impact on the support of the mattress.
- The memory foam mattress has no springs. They feel very different from the shape of the spring mattress and the mold.
- Latex mattresses have a resilient feel and are good for allergic patients. It is naturally elastic and therefore provides a good pressure distribution along the body. In general, the thicker the mattress, the better the support.
Try before you buy
Test it before making a final decision. What really suits you is true. When you're looking for the perfect mattress, just settle down at home, start your shoes, and bring a good book.
Lie down for about 15 minutes, using a normal sleeping position.
Sturdy, medium or soft?
Spring mattresses usually have a strong, medium or soft support. According to experience, the heavier your body, your mattress should be able to balance weight, the lighter a person, the more suitable for a soft mattress. Please note that the firmness ratings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Is it suitable for the back?
A mattress that is too hard or too soft can cause back pain, so take the time to find a mattress that suits you. An easy way to measure this is to put your hand on your back - if there is a gap then it shows the mattress is too hard. If you try to put your hand underneath, it may be too soft.
What is the filler?
The mattress padding "cooperates" with the mattress spring to create a balance of comfort and support. In general, the more filler the mattress contains, the higher the quality of the filler, and the more plump it feels.
