Abstract: Electronic components have strict requirements on the surrounding water vapor content, so the whole machine cover used for its casing should have high moisture resistance to prevent aging and other quality problems of electronic components. This article uses the W3 / 230 water vapor transmission rate test system independently developed and manufactured by Labthink to test the water vapor transmission rate of the whole machine cover sample. It introduces the equipment test method, test principle and test process in detail for the production of related electronic devices. Enterprises strictly control the moisture resistance of the housing to provide effective monitoring solutions.

1. Significance
Nowadays, human research on increasing the service life of electronic components is getting deeper and deeper, and the effective moisture resistance of its outer packaging is crucial to the extension of its service life. Because the parts are susceptible to moisture in a high-humidity environment, cracks occur at the plastic body and the pins of the parts during use, which in turn causes leakage of the case and the chip gradually fails due to moisture. Therefore, electronic component manufacturers usually add complete machine cover devices outside the electronic components to block water vapor, protect internal components, and prevent premature aging. Furthermore, the production enterprise should strictly monitor the moisture resistance of the outer casing of the whole machine.
2. Testing standards
The domestic test method for water vapor transmission rate of containers and packaging is mainly the infrared sensor detection method, which is based on the national standard GB / T 31355-2014 "Infrared Sensor Method for Water Vapor Transmission Test Methods of Packaging and Containers". The test method of using infrared sensors to test the water vapor permeability of packages and containers under normal conditions.

4.1 Test principle
W3 / 230 uses the infrared sensor method to test the principle, clamping the pre-treated sample between the test chambers, nitrogen with stable relative humidity flows on one side of the film, and dry nitrogen flows on the other side of the film; due to humidity In the presence of a gradient, water vapor will diffuse from the high-humidity side through the film to the low-humidity side; on the low-humidity side, the permeated water vapor is carried by the flowing dry nitrogen to the infrared sensor. When entering the sensor, it will generate the same proportion of electrical signal. Analyze and calculate the electrical signal of the sensor to get the parameters such as the water vapor transmission rate of the sample. For packaging containers, dry nitrogen flows inside the container, and the outside of the container is in a high humidity state.
4.2 Scope of application
(1) This equipment is suitable for testing the water vapor transmission rate of packagings such as containers, films, sheets, paper, cardboard and composite materials.
Containers include plastic, rubber, paper, paper-plastic composite, glass, metal and other materials made of bottles, bags, cans, boxes, barrels of water vapor transmission test, such as tea aluminum cans, Coke bottles, peanut oil barrels, Tetra Pak packaging, vacuum packaging bags, metal packaging bags, metal three-piece cans, plastic cosmetic tube packaging, toothpaste tube packaging, jelly cups, etc.
Films include various plastic films, paper-plastic composite films, aluminized films, aluminum foil, aluminum foil composite films, glass fiber aluminum foil paper composite films, etc.
Sheet materials include various engineering plastics, rubber, building materials and other sheet materials, such as PP sheets, PVC sheets, PVDC sheets, etc.
Paper, paperboard and its composite materials include paper, paperboard, etc., such as cigarette pack aluminized paper, paper aluminum-plastic composite sheet, etc.
The device can also be extended to test the water vapor transmission rate of special packages such as solar backplanes, liquid crystal display films, medical blister, pharmaceutical plastic bottles, sterile protective wound films, automobile fuel tanks, battery plastic shells and other special packages.
(2) This equipment complies with GB / T 31355, ISO 15106-2, ASTM F1249, GB / T 26253, TAPPI T557, JIS K7129 and other domestic and international method standards.
4.3 Device parameters
The test range of container samples is 0.0001 ~ 0.2 g / (pkg · d); the conventional test range of film samples is 0.01 ~ 40 g / (m2 · 24h), which can be extended to 0.1 ~ 1000 g / (m2 · 24h ).
The temperature range of the test is 15 ℃ ~ 55 ℃, the temperature control accuracy is ± 0.1 ℃; the humidity range is 0% RH, 35% RH ~ 90% RH, 100% RH, and the humidity control accuracy is ± 1% RH.
The three test modes of manual, proportional and cyclic provide suitable detection methods for materials with different barrier properties.
The equipment is equipped with three test chambers, all of which can be designed independently. The test process does not interfere with each other, and the test results are displayed independently.

5. Test process
(1) Apply quick-setting glue around the outer pipeline holes of the whole machine cover to fix it on the instrument-specific container test tray device. After the sealing is completed, connect it to the instrument using the pipeline, and then use a sealed bag Seal and wrap the sample and tray device.
(2) Set parameters such as sample name, test temperature and test humidity.
(3) Adjust the pressure of nitrogen to make the humidity in the test chamber reach the set value, and use the nitrogen flow adjustment knob to make the nitrogen flow in the upper and lower chambers reach the standard value.
(4) Click the start test option to start the test. The instrument automatically records the change of water molecule content on the low humidity side during the test and calculates the final test result.
6. Test results
The test value of the water vapor transmission rate of the sample of the whole machine cover tested in this paper is: 0.0411g / (m2 · 24h).
