Recently, South Korean authorities have developed an electronic tag that can measure changes in temperature and humidity, which can be used for food freshness testing and environmental pollution monitoring. The Korea Electronic Communications Research Institute also plans to add a function to identify quake and stress based on the electronic tags that were developed this time.
Electronic tag is a non-contact automatic identification technology. It automatically identifies target objects and obtains relevant data through radio frequency signals. Compared with the widely used bar code technology, electronic tags have the advantages of waterproof, antimagnetic, high temperature resistance, long service life, and long read distance.
The newly developed bar-shaped electronic tag has a built-in processor, a high frequency antenna, and a storage element. When it is affixed to the human body, animals or objects, it automatically senses changes in temperature and humidity. The reader can not only read the information previously stored in the tag, but also can know the current temperature and humidity of the object on which the tag is located. (Gu Yuning)
