Modified epoxy resin used as adsorbent

Not long ago, the Institute of Chemistry of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences synthesized a polymer modified with an epoxy resin as an adsorbent, which can extract most of the precious metals such as gold and silver and mercury ions dissolved in the solution. .

According to reports, this polymer is light yellow powder, insoluble in strong acids, alkalis and organic solvents, suitable for long-term preservation. The experimental results show that this polymer as an adsorbent can adsorb 90% of gold, silver and mercury ions in solution within 10 to 15 minutes under experimental conditions. Afterwards, the metal sorbent polymer adsorbent is placed in the acid or thiourea to "wash out" the precious metal or mercury ions in the adsorbent, and the polymer adsorbent can be reused.

Russian researchers believe that because the new polymer has a strong adsorption characteristics and selective adsorption characteristics, it can be applied to the concentration of precious metals and chemical analysis of food, soil and drinking water.
