The Hong Kong Polytechnic University was funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund to establish the Microsystem Technology Center. The opening ceremony was held on July 15. The Vice President of PolyU, Lv Xinrong, said that in the future, he will focus on the research work of micro engineering and show the media the development of the world's most accurate miniature micro injection molding machine (micro-nano).
Lu Xinrong introduced that the micro-injection molding machine is currently the only one in the world that can use vacuum injection. The injection speed can reach one meter per second and the locking force can reach two tons. He explained that the general injection molding machine is manufactured by laterally and obliquely polymerizing, but this most precise machine is a straight-through polymerization from top to bottom, which can greatly improve the accuracy.
Lu Xinrong pointed out that this world's most accurate micro-injection molding machine can produce parts as small as half a tweezers, suitable for producing some high-precision parts. For example, surgical medical products can be implanted into the body's plastic medical parts.
Lu Xinrong stated that in addition to making parts, this machine can also conduct research and collect data to help Hong Kong's industrial community design industrial micro injection molding machines to improve product quality and enhance competitiveness.
It is understood that Li Jing was awarded more than HK$11.83 million by the Innovation and Technology Fund in 2003 to develop a series of micro-injection molding machines to produce micro-products and components that are currently unreachable on the market. Recently, the Guangdong Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperative Fund has also funded 8.8 million Hong Kong dollars for PolyU to develop micro-injection technology for micro parts. (Finish)
